I would give Bliss six stars if I could! I have been to all seven continents, staying everywhere from tents and bunkhouses to luxe accommodations, and my experience at Bliss... read more was one of the best. My two friends and I stayed at Bliss in early January 2022, but our experience with the hotel began right after I booked it, months earlier. This was our first time to the Maldives and Bliss staff were extremely responsive to our emails asking about interisland travel, amenities, etc. They assisted us with booking domestic travel and advised us on our options to make the most of our stay. There was never any pressure, though; they simply laid out options and the pros and cons and gave us whatever time we needed to decide. Upon arrival, we were greeted with refreshing drinks and given a quick and helpful orientation to both the property and the island. Our rooms (we had two adjoining rooms) were well-equipped and spotless. The beds were super comfortable. Housekeeping throughout our stay was excellent. When a swimsuit I had drying on the balcony blew away in the wind, a staff member climbed over walls to retrieve it, smiling the whole time. The hotel rooftop is a great place to relax and watch the sunrise, too, with plenty of seating options. The internet was consistent and solid, allowing us to post images and videos on social media without any problems. One member... I would give Bliss six stars if I could! One member of our group has dietary restrictions that can be challenging for a kitchen (I know, I have worked as a cook), but our servers and the chef were great at making sure she had meals just as delicious as everyone else's (and the food was good, with a lot of variety for a small restaurant). We had an early departure on our final day and without us even requesting it, they packed sandwiches for us to take on our travels. We loved being able to eat in the open-air restaurant or outside on tables set up on the sand.
The hotel is located in the perfect spot: footsteps from the beach and a short walk to the heart of the village. It's about a half-hour walk to the famous sand spit at the island's southwest end, either along the beach or following an unpaved road through the jungle. We saw lots of flying foxes (large fruit bats) on land and tons of fish (even a nudibranch!) while snorkeling. The staff was terrific at letting us know the best shore snorkeling spots.
We did three snorkel excursions during our stay and they were outstanding. Our guide, Simone (hope I am spelling that right!) and the crew were professional and pleasant and very much focused on making the trips memorable. Thanks to them we saw tons of manta rays and two whale sharks, plus had a fun snorkel safari that took us to dropoffs, sandbars, and other sites we would not have seen otherwise.
Throughout our stay, staff members checked in with us on how things were going, if there was anything else they could do, etc, but if was never overbearing. We had some trouble getting another hotel we were staying at later in the trip to respond to our emails about transportation there, and the Bliss folks were great at reaching out to them and getting them to reply.
The island of Dhigurah itself is beautiful and the people are lovely. Everyone we met was pleasant and friendly, and we loved sharing the beaches with local families, talking with shopkeepers, and picking up snacks for our travel. Although Dhigurah was the first destination during our trip, we were glad we bought our souvenirs there because they were more affordable than elsewhere.
I am so happy we chose to stay at Bliss. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in an affordable, relaxing, peaceful stay. More
